Writing as Therapy

Published by sbelle under work from home Edit This

I went to Borders tonight, and I looked through some books and magazines.  Going to bookstores or the library invigorates me, somehow.  I love books, I love reading, and being surrounded by good books just excite me.

In one of the magazines, a woman talked about writing, and how writing helped her to make sense of her world, her problems, just whatever was going on in her life.  And, I realized, that it does the same for me.  I write down my most personal thoughts in a journal, and afterwards I feel refreshed.  I have greater clarity after I write.

I’m realizing more and more that writing is more than a way to earn money from home, it’s one of my purposes in life.  And, I plan on pursuing writing in a more vigorous way this year.

Freelance Writing With No Time Management= Not Much Work Done.

Right now I’m typing with my 4 month old in my lap.  This time is usually her naptime, but she refuses to go to sleep right now.  I didn’t wake up early to try to get work done, so I’m trying to catch up during my son’s naptime, which is her naptime too.

But, not today.  She’s getting fussy, and I’ve been holding her for the past hour or so, and she is showing no signs of going to sleep.

It’s so important for me to wake up early in the mornings before the kids do to blog and write, or else I feel frustrated throughout the day, because I try to fit it in throughout naptimes and downtimes.  It never goes the way I plan, though.  Like right now.

Oh, well.  I’m trying to think of something related to working from home to share, but my mind is drawing a blank right now.  Well, this is part of working from home; dealing with children who wil not let you get work done.  And, why you should try to work when they are asleep.  Scheduling and time management is soooo important!!

Bright Hub Writer!!!

Published by sbelle under work from home Edit This

I’m so excited that I was accepted to be a Bright Hub writer.  I look forward to adding another writing opportunity to my portfolio and increase the avenues in which I earn money online.  I am so happy!!  When I logged in, the site said that they are updating and will be back around January 7th.  I can’t wait to get started writing articles for them.

For those of you who have written or are writing for Bright Hub, how have you enjoyed your experience?  I hear that it can be difficult to get articles approved.  Have you made a good bit of money by writing for them?  I would love for any Bright Hub writers to share their experience.

All The Way Home

A great book that I discovered this past summer, was “All The Way Home” by Mary Pride.  I really enjoyed reading this book.  It provided great encouragement to me as a mother, wife, and homemaker.  Mary Pride has another book, published before this one, called “The Way Home.”  I haven’t read that one yet, but I’m sure that it’s good too.

One of my favorite parts of the book is her section on figuring out how to earn money from home.  She says that when you do the little things faithfully and well, that your calling emerges.  She encourages women to ask themselves three questions, 1. What do you like to do best? 2.  What are you best at?  and 3. What bothers you the most?  Answering these three questions will help you discover your calling.

Check out your local library or bookstore so you can read a copy of the book.  It’s a great read.

Do your research

Published by sbelle under work from home Edit This

For the past few days I have been searching through articles on Associated Content on working at home.  There is a wealth of information on there about working from home, various websites to go to to freelance with, information about how much money you can expect to realistically make from working for various companies.  It’s great.  Many articles are written by work at home and stay at home moms.  I’ve been inspired to work even harder to find more ways of earning money from home.  The opportunities really are endless, you just have to have the patience and endurance to keep at it until you find something that works for you.

Daily writing goal is almost met

Published by sbelle under work from home Edit This

I feel a modicum of success because I have almost reached my writing goal for today, and it will be the first time since I’ve started my freelance career that I have met my daily goal.  It feels so good!!  It really takes determinations and coming up with a set plan and sticking to it.

I dragged myself out of bed this morning.  It was an hour later than I intended, but it was still before the kids awoke.  And, I plugged away at my writing, and it wasn’t so bad.  The ideas were flowing and I was able to write more articles than I thought I could in the alloted time I had.

I am so excited about reaching my goal.  I have a recharge of energy and determination to make things happen!

Determination

Published by sbelle under work from home Edit This

Ok. So I’ve been writing like crazy to make sure that I make enough money to cover my bills.  I’ve been reading articles on Associated Content on how to make a living from AC, and the tips are great.  AC isn’t my only writing job, but it pays the fastest, so I write more for them than for anyone else.  All I can say is, if you are truly determined you can make a living as a freelance writer.  Getting up early is the hardest part for me.  I have a long list of content ideas.  The ones that I’m most passionate about are the quickest and easiest to write, so I try to stick to that.  And, doing research is very time consuming, so I try to write about things that I already know quite a bit about.

I need to do my today blog posts daily.  Somehow I always go days without posting.  That’s one dollar that I’m not getting, just because I forget, or I say that I’ll get to it, and I end up falling asleep.  I have to do better.

Work at home Mom website

Published by sbelle under work from home Edit This

I discovered a great website for mothers wanting to work from home.  It’s www.wahm.com . The website is an online magazine for women who want to work from home.  It’s filled with articles, and great job leads and posts that can help any woman on her way to becoming a work at home mom.  There is a forum section where you can meet other work at home moms and discuss various concerns and share tips with how to successfully transition to being a work at home mom and ideas for starting a home business.

It’s a great website.  Make sure you check it out or pass on the info to someone you know who is interested in working from home.
